Tanning tips
Before your spray tan
Exfoliation
Let's make sure you rock that tan like a pro! The first step is a fabulous exfoliation session. Buff away those pesky dead skin cells. By doing so, you pave the way for our tanning superhero, DHA, to work its magic on your skin's surface. Start your exfoliation extravaganza a few days before your tan date for optimal results.
Hydration
Now, here's the secret to a long-lasting, natural-looking tan that will have heads turning. It's all about the hydration game, baby! Get your skin in prime moisturized condition by slathering on that good stuff. Drink plenty of water, drench your skin with moisturizing lotion, and let the glow-up begin! Keep this moisture marathon going throughout the week leading up to your tanning session, and you'll be golden (literally).
Hair Removal
Hey, hair removal enthusiasts! If you're planning a laser session, make sure to schedule it at least 4-5 days before your spray tan adventure. Waxing and sugaring should be done 1-2 days in advance, and for all you smooth shavers out there, take care of that 12 hours before showtime! Timing is everything. By following these hair removal guidelines, you'll ensure a smooth canvas for that tanning masterpiece. Oh, and if you've been using any products with retinol, give them a break for two weeks before your appointment.
Nail Appointments
Nail lovers, listen up! Get those manis and pedis done before your spray tan extravaganza. Let your nails steal the show without any tan-related interruptions.
Tan Lines
Sun worshippers, heed this advice. If you're catching some rays before your spray tan, consider your bikini/top choice wisely. While we can work some magic on existing tan lines, erasing them completely is a whole other story. Protect your skin with a high SPF because uneven tans and sunburns don't make a great pair. And if your skin is peeling from a sunburn, hold off on your tan until it's healed. Take good care of your skin, moisturize like a boss, and in two weeks, you'll be ready to rock that tan.
Day of your spray tan
Before coming to the salon
The big day is here! After your refreshing shower, resist the urge to slather on any chemical potions. Deodorants, perfumes, and moisturizers can create a barrier that stops our tanning solution from working its tango on your skin. And remember, it's best to skip the shower right before your appointment. We want those pores to be on their best behavior for an even tan. Oh, and if you're rocking makeup, no worries—you can remove it at the salon.
Clothes
Now, let's talk attire. You're the star of the show, so wear whatever makes you feel like a million bucks! Your own underwear, bikinis, or anything that tickles your fancy will do just fine. Ladies, you've got the option of going seamless for that all-over tan. I've also got disposable string-style undies for both men and women. Talk about equal tanning opportunities!
Post-tan fashionistas, listen closely. Dark and loose-fitting clothes are your best friends. Embrace the comfort and style of a flowing maxi dress, cozy pajamas, or casual sweatpants. You want your tan to develop flawlessly, so let it breathe and avoid tight, clingy outfits. Oh, and if you're tanning during the summer, don't forget to rock those fabulous sandals!
After your spray tan
Showering
Time to shower off the tan residue! Just use plain water to wash away the excess color in your first shower. Take your first shower 4-8 hours after the tanning session. If you're getting bronzed in the evening, feel free to rinse off the excess color in the morning. Remember, gentle patting is better than vigorous rubbing when drying off. Don't forget to slather on a fantastic moisturizer all over your body and face. As for shower gels, it's best to steer clear of the Dove variety.
Tan Development
Hold on, the tan isn't done yet! It'll continue to develop over the next 24 hours. During this time, steer clear of swimming, sauna sessions, and intense sweat sessions.Your spray tan will be at its absolute best after two showers. So, if you're aiming to look your most radiant on Saturday, make sure to book your appointment for Thursday.
Extending Your Tan
Keep that glow going! While you're rocking that fabulous spray tan color, I recommend moisturizing your skin twice a day. This will help your tan stick around longer and gracefully fade away. Want to maintain that sun-kissed look? Gradual tanning moisturizers are your new BFFs!
Sun Protection
PSA: Spray tan doesn't double as sunblock! Protect your skin from the sun's rays by using sunscreen diligently.
